Nomination information

Students advised of nomination: Week beginning 21 December 2009

Closing date for Board to receive works: Friday 7 January 2010

What you need to send:

a completed permission form
details of any third-party materials used in your work
an electronic copy of your Major Work, Reflection Statement and a short piece (around 300–400 words) about the process
a high-res electronic photo of yourself of no less than 300 dpi and measuring at least 3 x 4 cm as a JPG or TIFF file
a high-res electronic copy of any illustrations, photos or graphic material used.

Please note: While students are permitted to use materials created by a third party for the purpose of developing their Major Work for the HSC, the different copyright restrictions that apply to publishing can prevent these works from being included in an anthology of this type. Students need to be aware of the difficulty in gaining clearance for some third-party materials including poems, quotes from other authors’ written works and particularly for song lyrics, music and film. Due to the great difficulty in obtaining copyright clearance for many of these works, no multimedia works will be included in Young Writers Showcase.

A selection of the highest scoring major works presented by English Extension 2 students at the 2007 HSC.

The CD-ROM includes performance poetry, speeches and a multimedia work. The book contains short stories, poetry, critical responses, a script and the students' reflection statements for all the works.

The seventh in the Young Writers Showcase series, this anthology shows students expressing a wide range of topics and ideas in serious, ironic, playful and surprisingly mature works.

The reflection statements are integral components of the major works and provide important insights into their development.
