Information regarding the HSC examinations in Languages CCAFL Continuers from 2010

Applies to the Continuers courses in Armenian, Croatian, Dutch, Filipino, Hindi, Hungarian, Khmer, Macedonian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Serbian, Swedish, Tamil, Turkish and Ukrainian languages.

A decision made by the Board of Studies in December 2008 has resulted in changes to some HSC examinations in 2010 and beyond.

In the Languages CCAFL Continuers HSC examinations in 2010 and beyond:

  • there will be no change to the written examinations
  • in the Oral examination, the marks for the Conversation and Discussion will be 10 and 15 respectively, rather than 15 and 10 as is currently the case.

The 2010 Languages CCAFL Continuers HSC examinations will have the same format and structure as past Languages CCAFL Continuers HSC examinations. Working through past HSC examinations would be a valuable part of a student's preparation program for the 2010 HSC examination in this course.

The Board also decided that rubrics be amended (where necessary) to ensure that due emphasis is placed on the structure and organisation of responses, the quality of the arguments and explanations, and the relevance of the content to the question asked.

More details about the examinations, and information about assessment components and weightings are in Assessment and Reporting in Languages CCAFL Continuers Stage 6 (PDF).
